n light of the latest dire climate report, i've decided to add a module to my class this quarter on the internet & the climate crisis
any good readings out there on internet infrastructures & the climate? i'm woefully under-read, but hoping to change that!
The internet can be a wonderful place. A place that unites people, to exchange ideas. It allows people to cooperate and unleash their creativity. This brought forth great source of information and knowledge, open science and many beautiful free software projects to enrich our lives with. The internet has the potential to bring our minds together. To set us free.
But increasingly commercial interests are thwarting the vision of what the internet can bring to humanity. The gems of free knowledge and open source software are harder to find these day. Drowned out by marketing, advertising and SEO they do not appear in the top of our search results anymore.
Delightful lists are an effort to help bring change to this trend. To make freedom more discoverable again. This top-level project will allow navigation to all high-quality curated delightful lists created and maintained all over the web.

A VHS tape loop between two VCRs make a 90-foot video delay. The live installation "Time is Long" showed with Bushwick Art Projects in Brooklyn. Is the space between the VCRs cinematic?
The script looks through the page for any images with the class "low", and if found, reveals a button on the page and attaches the image swapping function to it. The function swaps out the source, and doubles the width/height.
The half size low-res image does two things: it greatly reduces the file size, and shows the pixels better (when enlarged by CSS). By using "image-rendering: crisp-edges;" in the CSS, the enlarged pixels are kept sharp.
